| Round 3 Regional Championships at K2 Crawley |

What a venue!!! K2 is a great place and will certainly be the home of NAS for the future. Kick off began at 9.30 sharp. The standard of Martial arts in this round was truly amazing, returning competitors seemed too take on board the NAS rules from the previous rounds and really stepped it up a gear. New competitors seemed to follow suit pretty quickly and the day started and finished with the same intensity.
I know that everyone made new friends and gained knowledge and respect for all styles throughout the day. From competitors to coaches and spectators to officials everyone had an enjoyable day. I felt that this round the NAS came of age and has firmly made its mark in the world of tournament circuits in the UK. We know that we have a circuit that is for all to enjoy and show off their art and their skill, we want to appeal to a wider market by inviting all from young to the older generations and the youthful highly skilled to come together in a truly non-biased, non-political friendly safe environment. It takes a lot of skill and control to fight with conviction and full intensity yet stop within the scoring range. We started the day with all the children’s divisions, the standard was fantastic. The 10-11yr old division was enormous with young Jake Baigent Still of Go-Kan-Ryu claiming a hat trick coming first in Forms, point sparring and continuous. The morning raced by in the blink of an eye, until interrupted by a fire alarm and complete evacuation of the venue, thankfully this was a false alarm and high spirited competition resumed within about 20 minutes. The senior demonstrations division was won by family team Jay, Dave and Emma Elmes with a show-stopping demonstration that was so good that even with a one minute time penalty deducted still managed to claim first place. To see these talented people perform make sure you get to the Nationals at K2 on Saturday 2 nd December.
Our referees, judges and table officials did an amazing job on the day, showing the way NAS runs and what we are looking for in this circuit. In achieving this, the day ran incredibly smoothly with some phenomenal judging and camaraderie. Many thanks and appreciation to them.
Fight Factory Chief Instructor Darren Chan participated this round having recovered from a broken foot, but had to stand down in the final due to it flaring up again. He managed to scoop 2 nd place in both Black belt point sparring and continuous. Matthew Johnson won both Open forms and Open point sparring, a crowd pleaser) The atmosphere was great at the final event of what was a long hot day. Mr Peter Felix from Nemesis did an amazing job in all his rounds and was a nail biting decider to come third. Mr Andrew Spinks just pipped him to 2 nd with a broken foot. The overall champion was Mr Michael Johnson with an outstanding performance of skill and control.
We welcome judges and referees to all of our seminars from all styles equivalent of brown belt and above.
Table Officials over 18yrs any grade.
We endeavour to improve our standards and quality control with each event. We will not accept deliberate or malicious CONTACT and this shall be enforced via competitor. Coach or even club disqualification.
By the time this goes to print, we should have had our National Titles and Spectacular. Stay tuned in the next issue for the full reviews from this amazing climax to what has been a truly outstanding year in the UK for our National All Styles circuit. We have firmly made our mark in the world of Martial Arts Tournaments and offer a competition arena suitable for a wide market of artists, to compete, enjoy, learn and respect other styles coming together in an exciting atmosphere.
